Design for the Future

Design for the Future

Last fall semester I took a class called Design for the Future. During this coarse, I worked in a team with two masters students to explore the forces of change. After doing extensive research on these forces of change in several facets of Pittsburgh life focusing on public education, and establishing benchmarks for each of these forces we created personas that would illustrate what life might be like in 2050. During this project we really had to have a good understanding of the current state of learning in Pittsburgh and the forces of change happening on our own campus and around the city. During this coarse we had the opportunity to work with distinguished designer Arnold Wasserman, who acted as a advisor and consultant for our research and project. We were able to learn a lot from his vast knowledge and experience, in this area of design.

The goal of this class, was to establish a way to display this research so that Plan PGH team could take advantage of this future casting and design for the year 2050. We created a website that the Plan PGH team can walk through and use to explore how life might be different in 2050.
